Almost anyone in Germany can hum along to the famous Bossa Nova “Águas de Março” by Elis Regina and Tom Jobim, even if only a few know what the title actually refers to: the infamous tropical rainfalls at the beginning of the Brazilian autumn and winter time spilling over tropical cities like Rio de Janeiro Punctually every year in March.
If you have spent the summer of 2017 in Berlin, it is not hard to imagine the rainy weather of the southern hemisphere, as it had been raining more or less non-stop. That was also the case at the opening ceremony of the first flagship store of the Brazilian cult brand Havaianas in Germany, on the prestigious shopping street of Berlin, the Kurfürstendamm.
Despite – or because of the heavy rainstorm occurring, Musique Couture’s DJ Schowi enchanted the more than 100 invited guests, including actors such as Nilam Farooq, Julia Dietze and Jennifer Ulrich, TV hosts such as Fernanda Brandao and Patrice Bouédibéla as well as influencers and models Sara Nuru and André Hamann, with an one of a kind mix of Brazilian Baile Funk and electro tracks as well as Brazilian classics. Seja bem-vindo na Alemanha, Havaianas!
